Intensive Family Based Services (IFBS)

IFBS is a service that provides an intensive home based program for Aboriginal families in crisis whose children are either at risk of entering out-of-home placement due to protective concerns or, whose children have been placed in out-of-home care and are to be restored with their families. AbSec, in partnership with Family and Community Services, are piloting Aboriginal IFBS in 4 locations in NSW. Burrun Dalai OOHC and Family Support Service Kempsey and Bungree Aboriginal Corporation Wyong have commenced working with families in their local communities. Implementation groups consisting of Aboriginal IFBS staff, Community Services and AbSec have been developed in these areas. Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation in Wagga Wagga, is the third agency which will conduct an IFBS service. Recruitment for the service has been finalised and casework will commence in the near future.

A tender process is currently being finalised to decide on the successful agency for the fourth IFBS site in the Clarence Valley. Final approval for this site is expected shortly.
