Call for abstracts have now closed for AbSec’s 2017 conference. A big thank you to all who have kindly contributed!
Abstract Guidelines for the Sector Conference
Abstracts must be submitted under one of the Conference themes, using the form provided. All presenters must register to attend the Conference.
Abstracts should be between 300–350 words and include the title of the workshop or presentation and the name of the author or presenter.
All abstracts must be submitted by email to AbSec focusing on the conference themes as outlined within the submission document.
The Sector Conference is targeting those working in the child and family sector, working to support Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities.
Workshop/Presentation Guidelines
- Workshops/Presentations should be 60 minutes in duration including discussion time
- Presenters should advise AbSec at least 2 weeks prior if they have further technical requirements (Projectors, Audio for CD, DVD or iPod playback).
Sector Conference Themes
- Aboriginal Self-determination
- Cultural Practice – What’s working well for Aboriginal communities
- Theory vs Reality – Highlight success of innovative programs for Aboriginal children and young people

The Workers Conference is targeting Aboriginal member agency workers, Aboriginal workers working directly with Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities.
