Creativity Competition for Kids & Young People
Winning entries announced
Thursday 21 May
AbSec would like to thank all the kids and young people, and their parents/carers, who submitted entries to our Creativity Competition.
We ran the Creativity Competition to keep kids and young people entertained at home during the April/May school holidays and COVID-19 restrictions. It seems some quiet time certainly brings out the artistic inspiration!
We invited creative entries with the theme: Something that best represents your community. Entries could be:
- a drawing or painting
- a poem or story, or
- something made from natural material – like a collage made from leaves and sticks
We were astounded by the inventiveness and sheer beauty of entries across all age groups. It's fantastic to see how kids and young people represent their communities. That's our vision, to see Aboriginal kids grow up strong in spirit and identity, with every opportunity for lifelong wellbeing and connection to culture.
The competition was open to Aboriginal children and young people under the age of 18.
We had a tough job selecting the winning entries. Congratulations to all the winning artists and their parents/carers. Each of the 10 winners will receive a prize, valued up to $150 each.
