Our Services

The Aboriginal Child, Family and Community Care State Secretariat (AbSec) provides child protection and out-of-home care policy advice on issues affecting Aboriginal children, young people, families and carers. We also work to build capacity in the Aboriginal disability NGO sector to provide choices for people with disability in the types of services and supports they access.

Connecting Voices

Connecting Voices provides Aboriginal families with an opportunity to discuss what needs to be done to achieve improved wellbeing, welfare and safety of their children and young people.

Protecting Aboriginal Children Together (PACT)

The aim of PACT is to ensure there is an Aboriginal perspective when it comes to making key decisions about the care and protection of Aboriginal children and young people.

Intensive Family Based Services (IFBS)

IFBS offers an intensive level of casework and a broad spectrum of support services to families in crisis, for a period of up to 12 months.

The work undertaken by the out-of-home care agencies is important to the care and protection of Aboriginal children and young people to ensure that, wherever possible, Aboriginal children remain within their community.

Foster Care

AbSec is committed to ensuring our children and young people remain connected to community and culture to keep their identity strong and alive.

Aboriginal Disability Sector Development

AbSec is working to build capacity in the disability sector to increase the number of supports and services available to Aboriginal people with disability.

Advice, Programs & Policy Development

AbSec actively provides advice and information on issues impacting Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities.

Training & Support

AbSec provides regular opportunities throughout the year, to build and strengthen the Aboriginal service sector.
